A travel day

The prayer seminar at the Seminary United Methodist Church was blessed with a good response. Pastor Mike decided to schedule from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. (with an hour and one-half lunch with home-cooked food!) The seminar went smoothly and we were able to finish a little after 5 p.m. Most everyone indicated that they had made decisions about their spiritual lives at the end of the seminar. Several promised to teach others what they had learned. Pastor Mike drove me the seventy miles to the Jackson airport to begin the journey home. The Lord willing, I will be home by 4 p.m. this afternoon.

A wonderful day

Being with Dr. Mike Lips and his wonderful wife, Earline--along with their two beautiful daughters--was within itself a blessing. Their ministry is at the Seminary United Methodist Church in Seminary, Mississippi. Dr. Make is not only the pastor, but he is a certified counselor. His understanding and wisdom are amazing. God has prepared him in the crucible of experience to mold him into a sensitive man of God whose counsel makes a difference. Earline's vehicle was totaled when at 18-wheeler ran into her in 2007 and she was badly broken. To see her almost 100% recuperated was uplifting. She had a wonderful meal on the table when we arrived from the airport last night. I am looking forward to a wonderful seminar at Seminary U.M. Church. Nothing thrills me any more than being able to share the Word of God. Knowing that many of our Doorkeepers are praying provides a sense of steadiness and confidence.

A rough travel day

When Sue dropped me off at the Lynchburg airport an hour before my flight to Atlanta, I never dreamed that we would finally leave Lynchburg three hours later. The Delta flight from Atlanta was delayed because of mechanical problems. Once we boarded an hour and one-half late, we were informed the main radar was done in Atlanta and we were being held on the ground due to the congestion that had built up in Atlanta. I was rebooked on a second flight that would leave at 4:07 p.m. Since the Lynchburg flight was scheduled to land after this time, I was rebooked on a later flight. Once we deplaned in Atlanta, I happened to see that the 4:07 flight was still boarding. I was able to get that flight because it was leaving from the same gate area where I arrived. I walked on the plane and the door was shut. God is so good to help when the demands are heavy. Hopefully, I will never have another travel day like this one. I was glad to arrive in Seminary, Mississippi, around 7 p.m. for a good night's rest before the Sunday prayer seminar.

Welcome home

Sue arrived home a little after five in the afternoon after an all-day drive from Berea, Kentucky. A good part of our young lives were spend in Madison County, Kentucky (Berea and Richmond) where we attended college and started our careers--mine in education and Sue's in nursing. It has been amazing to know that wherever we are in the world, we have good friends in this area. Several are doorkeepers in the prayer seminar ministry. Usually, when Sue goes to her home in western Kentucky, she arranges to visit old friends. Of course, I rejoice that she is able to do so BUT THE BEST PART OF ANY TRIP IS GETTING HOME. Although I leave for Mississippi in the morning, it feels so good to know she is here after being away for ten days.
